About Lancome
The French cosmetic company Lancome is one of the most enduring of all the beauty product brands on the maket. Established in 1935 by Armand Petitjean, who took the name and trademark rose symbol from Le Chateau de Lancosme which he had visited at the time, the company has become a world leader in cosmetics. It started out with five perfume fragrances at the World's Fair in Brussels that same year, and since then the brand has gone from strength to strength. In 2006 for example its Nutrix brand celebrated its 70th anniversary. In 1964, shortly after being launched in the US, the company was acquired by American company Cosmair which changed its name to L'Oreal in 1997. L'Oreal now boasts both professional, consumer and luxury products as well as an active cosmetic research division.

 
Its brands include Lancome, Kerastase, Garnier, Redken, Guy Laroche, Biotherm, Diesel perfumes, Helena Rubenstein and Giorgio Armani perfumes. Lancome is considered a mature and trusted brand and over the years has been represented by a host of famous spokeswomen. The most famous and enduring of these was Isabella Rossellini who spent 14 years representing the company. Other celebrities to get behind the name include Drew Barrymore, Uma Thurman and, most recently, Kate Winslet. Her first assignment will be the relaunch of the classic Lancome fragrance Tresor in late 2007. The range of Lancome products includes a variety of skin care cosmetics, makeup, 10 frangrances (including Miracle, Hypnosis and Poeme), body and suncare products, haircare and mens items. These are distributed on three continents and the brand continues to treasure its unique French spirit.
