Neutrogena was founded in 1930 by Emanuel Stolaroff, who originally named it Natone. Based in Los Angeles, the company was started in order to provide the film industry with specialist cosmetics. The wondrous soap was created by Belgian cosmetic chemist Dr. Edmond Fromont. Stolaroff discovered it on a business trip to Europe and instantly recognized its incredible potential. Stolaroff built on the popularity of Neutrogena soap and changed the company name to the Neutrogena Corporation, producing a wide range of moisturizers, lotions, cleansers and other skin care products.
